The annual 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is a global campaign that calls for urgent action to protect women and girls from all forms of violence.
Running from November 25 to December 10, the initiative highlights key steps that governments, communities, and individuals can take to build a safer and more equal society.
According to guidance from the World Health Organization, preventing gender-based violence requires a coordinated, long-term effort focused on strengthening support systems, promoting equality, and ensuring justice for survivors.
This includes promoting gender equality and respect for women, supporting women’s education and economic independence, and teaching healthy communication and non-violent behavior, especially among young people.
