Kenya’s fixed internet market continued to record steady growth in 2025, driven largely by increasing demand for high-speed broadband services in homes, schools and businesses.
Data from the Communications Authority of Kenya shows that fibre optic connections remained the dominant form of fixed internet access, with subscriptions rising from about 1.28 million in September 2025 to nearly 1.38 million by December 2025.
Terrestrial wireless internet also posted growth, increasing from approximately 810,000 subscriptions to more than 860,000 during the same period.
The technology remains popular in areas where fibre infrastructure is limited or unavailable.
Cable modem subscriptions remained relatively stable at around 200,000, indicating a mature but steady segment of the market.
Satellite internet, while accounting for a smaller share, also recorded modest growth, reflecting increasing adoption in remote and underserved regions.
The figures highlight Kenya’s expanding digital economy and growing reliance on internet connectivity for work, education, entertainment and e-commerce.
Continued investment in broadband infrastructure is expected to further boost internet penetration nationwide.
