Embakasi North Member of Parliament James Gakuya has said that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka would have been somewhere in government had he backed President William Ruto in the August polls.

He said if he had made up his mind and negotiated with Ruto, he would have even been given a Cabinet Secretary position.

“I am seeing a situation where Kalonzo could have been given the CS for Foreign Affairs and Alfred Mutua could have been settled in Tourism or somewhere else,” he said.

He said that even though he could have been able to drive his campaign alone in the last elections, he could have still been a winner on this end.

He was speaking on K24TV on Monday.

Gakuya said Kalonzo’s political survival is because he is a very lucky person.

“Remember by the tail-end to the last elections, Kalonzo at some point moved out of the coalition and even nominated his running-mate," he said.

"But at the crossroads, we couldn’t be able to know at what point he then dropped that idea and finally moved into the Azimio Fraternity.”

He said that Kalonzo is very lucky because he can choose to be in Azimio or to be otherwise.

However, Gakuya said, this time he may not be lucky to get the baton from Raila Odinga.

“The same demands he is making are the same he had made in the past elections. He was very categorical that he was not going to be spent again and yet he ceded and bought the idea,” he said.

This time, Gakuya added, it is upon Kalonzo to think and have a clearer mindset on how to manoeuvre these politics.
