Youth Affairs, Sports and Arts Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has urged leaders across Africa to use technology to tackle issues facing African countries.

Ababu said technology has promoted job opportunities including sports which are being reevaluated to eSports gaming.

"The jobs are quickly evolving with improved technology, such as traditional fine art transitioning to digital art with the invention of the ePencil. Sport is also being redefined, with the introduction of eSports gaming, married with animation," the CS said.

He said such inventions can promote the growth and culture of a country.

"These are the new frontiers that have the potential to impact the continent’s growth while exporting our culture and art to the world,” Ababu said.

“Technology offers the opportunity to think, work and collaborate without borders.”

He also said that his ministry is working hard to make talents basic factors as stated in the government's manifesto.

"My ministry is making deliberate efforts in positioning talent as a key economic driver, as emphasized in the Government's manifesto, through the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda," he said.

He spoke during the Young Africa Leadership Initiative ceremony at the YALI E.A. Regional Leadership Centre at Kenyatta University.

Some of the officials in the meeting included the acting deputy mission director of USAID Kenya and East Africa, Michelle Chen, the DVC of academics at Kenyatta University, Prof  Waceke Wanjohi and Chief of Party YALI RLC - EA George Kosimbei.
