Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has said the government will continue empowering Saccos as enablers towards achieving the Bottom-Up economic agenda. 

Mudavadi was speaking on Wednesday at Ol Kalou town during the inauguration of the Tower Sacco building in Nyandarua county. 

He commended Saccos for the role they play in transforming the lives of Kenyans and the growth of the economy.

Mudavadi lauded the move being spearheaded by Saccos for cultivating the saving culture.

“The power of cooperatives is so strong and many economies including countries like Denmark and many others have a history that relates to the foundation on cooperatives and their contribution towards the empowerment of citizens,” Mudavadi said.

He said good management of cooperative societies through honest and dedicated leadership has become a key pillar in the transformation of Kenya’s economy towards achieving financial inclusion and boosting liquidity.

“I urge Saccos through their various leaders and member participation to remain focused and united towards achieving objectives in line with the Cooperative Principles and Values of democratic member control, economic member participation and equity,” Mudavadi said.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives Simon Chelgui, Nyandarua Governor Moses Kiarie Badilisha, Senator John Methu, and Women Representative Faith Gitau among other dignitaries.
