Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has called out the police for failing to protect properties during Tuesday's demos.

Karua, in a Tweet on Thursday, said it would be good if the police explained to Kenyans why they did not salvage two burnt vehicles that were set ablaze during Tuesday's demos.

"Would be useful if police, Inspector General of Police, DCI and ODPP explained to the Kenyans why police stationed to stop Maandamano Tuesday did not salvage both vehicles," Karua said.

She said the police also ought to explain an instance where police are seen in a video walking away from the scene of crime.

Karua said it is a recipe for anarchy if police leave the citizen to take the law into their own hands.

"It is a recipe for total anarchy if police, DCI and ODPP abdicate duty and let citizens take the law into their hands," Karua said.

She said police still receive their salaries from the very citizens they have chosen to neglect.

Karua said it is also curious that the police and DCI can deploy a huge contingent of security agencies to violently disrupt peaceful protests but fail to provide security for citizens and their property.

During Tuesday's anti-government demos, two vehicles were set ablaze.

The first was along Ngong Road where a Public Service Vehicle was set ablaze by unknown individuals.

The second vehicle was a truck transporting cables along the Southern by-pass in Nairobi by unknown individuals.
