A 61-year-old man died after falling from a rooftop of a church in California, Nairobi.

 

Police said Bernard Agoi who was a caretaker of the Friends Quakers Church had climbed the roof of the structure to clean it when he slipped and fell off on Wednesday, May 17 in the afternoon.

He landed on the ground on his head sustaining deadly injuries.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police visited the scene and recorded it as part of the probe into the accident.

The deceased did not have a helmet at the time of the incident.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending probe and autopsy.

Such incidents of deadly falls have been on the rise in the city. Most of the victims are construction workers.

Police have been calling on the contractors to ensure workers have protective gear.

Elsewhere, a police officer was injured in a confrontation with a tenant in Ngei, Huruma.

The officer had one of his fingers badly injured in the confrontation on Tuesday evening.

Police say they are investigating the incident. The suspect was later arrested in the area following the attack.

Police said he was a neighbour of the victim but they are still investigating the motive.
