Transport and Roads Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has said investigations into an incident where a deaf girl was allegedly stripped by touts have begun.

The CS on Friday said he is looking into the matter and will issue an update soon.

"Investigations on this matter are ongoing and I will update the nation soon," Murkomen said.

His sentiments come after the touts of a matatu are said to have stripped naked a deaf woman over bus fare.

It is said the deaf lady could not express herself well on the issue of her fare.

The matatu is said to operate along the Nairobi-Meru route.

The incident evoked anger among many Kenyans who called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to look into the matter.

One Abuga Makori termed the act as inhumane, adding that it should not be tolerated at any cost.

"They have just stripped naked a lady who is a deaf mute simply because she couldn't express herself on the issue fare. This act should be condemned by every means," Makori said.

Images seen by the Star show the girl in the matatu with a bare chest, her inner wear also slightly pulled down as she tries to cover herself with her clothes.
