The Jubilee Party Internal Dispute Resolution Tribunal has declared as null and void the notice that convened the party's National Delegates Convention.

The meeting at the Ngong Racecourse was summoned by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta on May 22.

In its ruling, the committee chaired by Gideon Solonka ruled that Uhuru contravened the provisions of the party constitution.

The committee said Uhuru contravene the law when he issued a notice for the NDC when he lacked the quorum for the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on 28th April 2023.

“The Respondent (Kenyatta) did not act in accordance with the Party constitution in publishing the notices convening the NEC meeting of 28th April 2023 and the SNDC of 22nd May 2023,” the committee stated in the ruling dated May 30.

“It follows that all the decisions passed in the above-stated NEC meeting were null and void. The Committee, therefore, finds that there was no decision of the NEC to summon a special NDC.”

The decision was made by the dispute resolution committee after Nelson Dzuya, the party’s chairperson, filed a complaint against Uhuru's NEC meeting notice.

Dzuya had argued that Uhuru's NEC lacked a quorum to issue notice to convene the special NDC of May 22.

Uhuru had presided over the NDC that made radical changes to the leadership of Jubilee as well as resolved to expel rebels.
