A security guard and Nyumba Kumi official have been arraigned at Kibera court for allegedly stealing household items worth Sh250,000 from a woman’s house in Kawangware.

Paul Idesia Omanyala and Sheldon Oudo were arraigned before Kibera senior principal magistrate Charles Mwaniki when the matter came up for hearing.

According to the charge sheet, the accused persons are said to have committed the offence on April 14 in Kawangware.

The court heard that the items belonged to LM who is the complainant in the case.

While testifying in court on Thursday, LM told the court that she was in Busia when a neighbour called her and informed her that her house had been broken into and all the items stolen.

“My neighbour called me when I was in Busia and informed me that all my items had been stolen, when I came back, I found my duvet, curtains among other things missing and we reported the matter to the police,” she told the court.

She said that after the arrests were made she visited the station and saw some suspects putting on some of her husband’s clothing.

“I saw Omanyala at the police station with my husband’s shoes and Oudo was putting on my husband’s jacket shoes, that was the main reason for me to confirm that they stole from my house,” she told the court.

But they denied the accusations.

The case will proceed later this month for a further hearing.

They were released on a cash bail of Sh150,000.
