Speaker Amason Kingi has narrated how the Senate will miss Marya Awori.

Marya, daughter of former Vice President Moody Awori, died on June 6, 2023.

"Her gap will never be replaced. I remember one time when I sat in Parliament for a session and documents at the table had not been placed correctly. When I asked the clerk what was happening, I was answered that such a mistake could not have happened if Marya was still around, Kingi said.

Speaking at Consolata Grounds on Wednesday, Kingi said the Senate is in denial over her death.

"We were all in denial of her sudden death.  When we got to Parliament the next day after her demise and faces of all senators were gloomy a reflection of how she was greatly loved and delivered in her duties,' he said.

"Marya would show me the way if I was lost. We mourn Marya but her legacy lives on."
