Singapore was on Thursday trending for the better part of the morning on Twitter.

President Ruto posted a link to one of the stories titled 'Kenya Is Poised to Become the ‘Singapore of Africa’ which may have contributed to Singapore being on the trends.

Singapore is described as the perfect example of man made beauty. "The country impresses with its incredible architecture and futuristic attractions."

The authors narrated how Kenya was slowly following the same path Singapore took.

According to the article, they said Kenya is the most promising country in Sub-Saharan Africa.

"Of all the countries in Sub-Saharan Africa to be optimistic about, the most promising is Kenya. Economic and political forces are converging to put the continent’s seventh-largest nation in a relatively favorable position," read part of the article.

They lauded Kenya for her English fluency among its speakers which they said nicely describes the country.

Despite Kenya having had difficulty attracting foreign direct investments compared to other African nations, they said it has been stable since the 2022 election went well.

"Kenyan government has been stable as of late, and the 2022 election went relatively well," the book read.

Coincidentally, a few weeks ago the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsieng was in the country on May 18.

Together with President Ruto, they held high-level talks that will revolve around ways of fostering trade and investment facilitation between the two nations.

They also signed a bilateral cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOUs) during the meeting.

This is said to show the type of people Ruto is associating with as a country that has the target of rising out of poverty.

There have been challenges around dealing with corruption and this prompted Ruto to take a step forward in combating corruption.

Singapore took the same path and fought corruption to come from being a third-world country.

The Washington article added that Kenya had a growth rate of about 5.5 per cent last year despite negative shocks to the prices of imported food and energy.

The article noted that Kenya is having easy access to China and India large markets, and sources of capital.

They said the Economic forces are converging to put the country in a relatively favorable position.

The Washington article referred to Kenya as an East African hub technology which is the in thing around the world at the moment.

The authors noted that at the moment Kenya is much wealthier and has a superior infrastructure which includes digital infrastructure.

"Kenya is much wealthier and has a superior infrastructure — and that includes the digital infrastructure, as internet access in Kenya is ranked among the most reliable in Africa."
