One million Kenyans need to work abroad for our economy – Ruto

President William Ruto has said one million Kenyans need to work abroad in order for the economy to grow. 

Speaking in Kakamega during a church service, the President said if the youth work abroad, more dollars will be brought to the country. 

"Germany, America, and Canada have asked for Kenyans to go work in those countries, we need one million more Kenyans to work outside so that we can use our labour to grow our economy and change the fortune of our young people," he said. 

The head of state added that his administration is keen on growing digital jobs due to its availability. 

"In our manifesto, we have 100,000 kilometers of fibre optics because we want to grow digital jobs. We will install 25,000 Wi-Fi hotspots around the country to enable our young people to access jobs digital and venture into e-commerce," he said. 

Through affordable housing, Ruto has always insisted that more jobs will be created for the youth as they will be employed through the programs. 

"We have planned to build 10,000 houses in Kakamega, The program will create employment. We expect to create over one million jobs across the country. Kazi ni Kazi," he said.
