Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has urged the Judiciary to take the lead in enhancing accountability and inculcating a performance-oriented culture in the public service.

Mudavadi said accountability could be enhanced by incorporating public participation in decision-making processes.

β€œI am passionate about performance management because I know the power it wields in driving public service delivery. Performance management is a most effective tool that enhances accountability in the use of resources,” said Mudavadi.

In a speech read on his behalf by Parliamentary Affairs PS Aurelia Rono at the launch of the Judiciary Performance Management and Measurement Understanding Evaluation report, Mudavadi affirmed that performance management improves the efficiency and effectiveness of the courts.

The PCS said performance management is instrumental in identifying, collecting and collating critical information to support evidence-based decision-making.

According to the PCS, the report launched provides critical information and feedback necessary in ensuring the provision of high-quality judicial services.

β€œIt will spur implementation of transformative initiatives that will improve access to and delivery of justice in Kenya,” he stated.

Mudavadi said the new vigour in implementing performance management measures is deliberate in enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in the use of scarce resources.

He added that his office is open and committed to strengthening performance management as a key public sector accountability framework.
