Police are looking for a gang that broke into a PCEA Church in Nyeri and injured a night guard before stealing electronic goods.

The gang raided Kiawara PCEA church after climbing a perimeter wall there before attacking and injuring the night guard.

Police said the incident happened on June 29 at dawn.

After injuring the guard, they broke into the church office and stole one HP laptop, Wi-Fi, mixer, singer sewing machine head, damaged 32-inch TV set that was fixed on the wall and a banana bunch.

Police said the thugs then escaped through the main gate.

The injured watchman who had sustained deep cuts on the head and face near the upper eyelid was rushed to Nyeri County Referral Hospital for treatment, where he was admitted in fair condition.

Police said there is no arrest or recovery made so far.

Meanwhile, a 67-year-old man was found dead in a village in Msambweni, Kwale.

The body of Jefa Chiti Nyale was found in Menzamwene village on the roadside with several deep panga cuts.

The body was taken to Msambweni Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination, police said adding no arrest had been made.

A hunt for the killers is ongoing.

In Kilifi’s Mjibu village within Konjora sub location, the body of a motorcycle rider identified as Amani Baya Maitha, 22 was found on a tree after a suspected murder.

The deceased had been hired the previous day by two men to ferry them to an unknown destination and did not show up thereafter.

Police said he was later found hanging on a tree with visible marks on his chest and neck.

His two mobile phones were recovered from his trouser pocket switched off.

The body was taken to the Kilifi county hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.

An investigation into the incident has been opened.
