Rongai Member of Parliament, Paul Chebor, has raised concerns over Azimio leader Raila Odinga's upcoming Saba Saba rally, scheduled for July 7th, claiming it is an early start to the 2027 campaigns.

Speaking to the Star on Sunday, Chebor expressed his concerns about the rally noting that it might plunge the Country into violence and should be stopped.

During the Kamukunji rally a week ago, Raila Odinga criticized the President for allegedly neglecting the pleas of Kenyans who have been calling for relief from the burdensome cost of living.

Chebor urged Odinga to prioritize the nation's well-being over personal political aspirations, cautioning against actions that could hinder progress and sow discord among Kenyans.

MP Chebor contended that the timing and nature of the Saba Saba rally has revealed Odinga's ambitions for the 2027 elections.

He called upon Odinga to reconsider his plans, emphasizing the importance of unity and focusing on the development agenda set forth by President Ruto.

“I would like to urge Odinga to prioritize the well-being of the nation over personal political aspirations that could hinder progress and sow discord among Kenyans,” he said.

He stressed the importance of unity and collaboration to effectively address the country's challenges.

MP Chebor also used the opportunity and reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises, assuring his constituents that he would tirelessly work towards positive change in their lives.

He specifically addressed education issues, assuring transparent and fair distribution of bursaries.

"I will continue supporting the education sector in the Rongai constituency, and I can assure the constituents that bursary issuance has been very transparent and wasn't issued through Mpesa as alleged by opponents," Chebor stated.

During his election campaign, the MP made various pledges to improve infrastructure, healthcare, education, and job opportunities in Rongai.

He emphasized effective representation and vowed to be a voice for the people, advocating for their concerns and interests.

Former Mount Kenya MCAs caucus chairman Charles Mwangi Ng'ang'a (Ichagaki) echoed Chebor's concerns, emphasizing the need for unity and focusing on the development agenda set forth by President Ruto.

He urged Azimio to preach peace and discouraged leaders against inciting each other.

He emphasized the need for effective representation and urged elected leaders to be a voice for the people that elected them.

Gatanga MP Edward Muriu recently told the Star that leaders in the Kenya Kwanza have committed to support Ruto’s agenda to enhance the fulfilment of promises.

Muriu said that the Kenya Kwanza administration should be given time to fulfil campaign promises.
