Former Member of Parliament for Mukurweini Kabando wa Kabando has said that all the Chief Administration Secretaries (CAS) who benefitted illegally should pay back more.

This comes after the High Court declared the CAS position unconstitutional and revoked the appointment that saw the 50 sworn into office.

In a tweet on Monday, Kabando said that the Attorney General should not waste public funds for what he termed as 'wasteful appeals'.

Any illegal, invalid, unconstitutional 50 CASs who benefitted illegally should be surcharged pronto. The Attorney General should not use a single coin of public funds for wasteful appeals,” he said.

The court on Monday rendered the 50 CASs jobless, a move that deals a blow to President William Ruto who was keen to reward his close allies with the positions.

Justices Kanyi Kimondo and Ali Visram who were on the majority side revoked a notification appointing the 50 to office.

“The framers of the Constitution did not envisage that 50 CASs would deputize 22 Cabinet Secretaries.” Justice Kanyi Kimondo.

Justice Hedwig Ong'undi however disagreed with the decision terming the office unconstitutional.
