Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua is in Congo-Brazaville ahead of President William Ruto’s visit.

Ruto jetted out of the country Wednesday evening to Comoros where he will be the chief guest during the country’s 48th Independence Day celebrations on Thursday.

The head of state, in a statement released by Statehouse, will be in Congo for two days for bilateral talks with his President Dennis Sassou Nguesso.

The two leaders will also witness the signing of legal instruments on various bilateral agreements.

Mutua arrived in the central African country on Wednesday and was received by the ambassador to DRC with accreditation to Congo Brazzaville George Masafu.

“I was later received by his counterpart from the Republic of Congo Denis Christel Sassou Nguesso who will co-chair the Joint Ministerial meeting aimed at strengthening ties ahead of a state visit by the President,” Mutua said in a post.

The visit follows the inaugural session of the Kenya-Congo Joint Commission for Cooperation, which was held by officials from both countries between June 25 and June 27, 2023.

Kenya and Congo-Brazaville enjoy cordial ties built on longstanding friendship and cooperation at bilateral, regional and multilateral levels.

Nguesso last visited Kenya in September last year Kenya during Ruto’s inauguration.
