Lang'ata MP Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o has pleaded with President William Ruto to come to his rescue as he is set to appear before the ODM party disciplinary committee.

Jalang'o said his biggest crime as he appears before the committee is that he is a friend to the President.

He spoke on Saturday during the homecoming ceremony of Interior PS Raymond Omollo in Homa Bay County.

"Next week, I am going to appear before my party, ODM, because I have been summoned before the disciplinary committee. I have looked at all the charges I am being accused of being a friend to Ruto," he said.

"I know you are a friend to Baba (Raila Odinga) and you guys talk. Please talk to him because looking at others who are facing similar charges are the likes of Ojienda, who happens to be a lawyer. Jamani wasinimalize kama uko."

He also said that the Luo nation was so sure they would win the August 9 general election under the leadership of Raila Odinga but were surprised when Ruto won.

"If the election was an examination, we had a marking scheme. All we were to do was to transfer the answers. And things were going well till the last minute. We don't know how you managed to win," he told Ruto.

Jalang'o is among nine ODM MPs who have been labelled as rebels for warming up to Ruto.

Others are Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem) Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Paul Abuor (Rongo) and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda.

The rebel MPs are set to appear before the ODM disciplinary committee on Wednesday next week with the party threatening to kick them out.
