A man died after he fell from the third floor of a house under construction in Kiambu.

Police said Simon Ochaka, 56, was among workers partitioning a  supermarket at Thindigwa when he fell and died.

Witnesses said he was answering a phone call when he strayed and fell into an open area dying on the spot.

Police and witnesses said he accidentally walked into an open space where the safety grills had been cut to allow the intended partition and fell from the third floor to the first floor of the building.

He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Such tragic falls have been on the rise in recent months amid calls on contractors to ensure the safety of workers at large.

Officials are investigating the various incidents so far reported.

Elsewhere, police are investigating an incident in which a reveller died after an altercation at a bar in Buruburu area, Nairobi.

The body of the man identified as only Frank was found on the roadside in Donholm long after the incident.

Witnesses told police he had an altercation at a bar that saw him being assaulted by another reveller before he left.

His body was found on the roadside on July 22 with a swelling at the back of the head caused by a blunt object.

Police said they established the altercation turned physical.

They are looking for the attackers.

Police are also investigating an incident in which a Ugandan national was found dead near a stream in Wangige, Kiambu.

The body of Stephen Were was found in the stream with deep cuts on his forehead and back of his head.

Witnesses said the deceased who was a casual worker at a homestead in the area may have been murdered and the body dumped in the area.

The motive of the murder is yet to be established, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and further probe.

No arrest has been made so far.
