Police are investigating an incident in which the office of Nakuru County Woman Representative Liza Chelule was broken into and property stolen.

This was after an unknown number of thieves poisoned dogs that were manning the compound. This gave them the leeway to access the compound.

They then drilled a hole through the perimeter fence to gain entrance into the office blocks.

The offices of the Woman Rep for the county are located at the Christ The King Catholic Church premises in Nakuru Town.

Police said the said thugs stole from therein computer wares, television screens and cameras of unknown value.

Also affected in the July 26 incident were the offices of Midrift Human Rights Network (Hurinet).

It is not clear why the two offices were targeted in the attack. There are many offices there, officials said.

Guards reporting to work reported they had noticed the break-in and reported it to the police.

Police visited the scene as part of the probe into the incident. The guards who were on duty were grilled as part of the investigation.

Elsewhere, police are looking for people who vandalized a fence at the Standard Gauge Railway in the Lukenya area, Machakos County.

Officials said they realized about 21 meters long fence had been vandalized and the wire mesh stolen.

Police on patrol discovered the incident on July 26 prompting action from the management to re-fence the area.

The SGR is fenced from Mombasa to Naivasha as part of efforts to deter vandalism and interference with the movement of trains.

There is a special police squad dedicated to the protection of SGR.
