The government will relaunch all development projects that stalled during the Jubilee administration, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said.

Speaking when he launched the tarmacking of National Oil-Reale Hospital-Sports Club-Bishop Muge link R-road and Junction in Eldoret, Gachagua said they have already set funds to ensure the projects are revived and completed.

"As the Kenya Kwanza administration, we are focused on development and bettering the lives of the people and we have made a commitment to revive all these projects," he said.

His remarks came at a time President William Ruto has received  criticism from the Opposition for allegedly restarting projects initiated during the last government.

Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has however defended this saying the projects were long abandoned and contractors left the site due to the accumulation of pending bills.

"You have seen us even relaunch projects that were initially launched almost eight years ago because they were long forgotten like the case where the President was launching a project in Nyandarua recently," Murkomen said.

Ruto recently toured Mt Kenya where he launched several road and water projects.

Gachagua further promised the residents that the government will not deviate from its course to ensure the lives of those at the bottom of the economic pyramid is improved.

"That is why we have reduced fertiliser prices from Sh7000 to Sh3500 and now further down to Sh2,500. Those who missed out last time should make an effort to be registered to get subsidised fertilizer," he added.

The DP said the government will soon start purchasing maize at better prices for its strategic grain reserves.

"We will pay farmers within 48 hours in a bid to weed out cartels and brokers," he stated.

The DP was accompanied by Murkomen among other leaders.

The road, he said, will ease traffic movement in the town which will soon be a city because it deserves to be so.
