Woman accused of stealing coffins at funeral home charged

A Woman who allegedly stole coffins from a funeral home after being entrusted to operate the facility was on Friday charged before a Nairobi court.

Maureen Khikani was accused that she stole two coffins valued at Sh90,000 and 26 coffin handles valued at Sh117,000 by being employed as a saleslady.

According to the prosecution, Khikani committed the offence on dates between May 12, 2022, and May 7, 2023, at St Augustine Funeral Services at Kenyatta Market.

She is said to have stolen the property of St Augustine Funeral Services which came to her possession by virtue of your employment.

Appearing before Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi at Milimani Law Courts, the accused lady denied the charges and pleaded with the court for lenient bond terms.

She was released on a bond of Sh200,000 with an alternative cash bail of Sh100,000.

The case will be mentioned on September 1.
