Kisii Governor Simba Arati on Sunday caused a light moment over what he claimed was a protocol hitch during a church service attended by President William Ruto.

Ruto was attending an interdenominational Thanksgiving service at Nyanturago Stadium in Nyaribari Chache.

Arati, who had just concluded giving his remarks, regretted what he termed as a move to bungle the program, saying he was supposed to speak last and welcome the President.

“Najua mlivunja protocol...unajua mimi ndio ningefaa kukaribisha rais, ordinarily,” he said.

“Lakini wacha nimwite Kimani Ichung'wah, huyu tumekuwa naye bungeni... karibu halafu utaleta Machogu. Hata kama mlivunja protocol sisi ikivunjika hatuna shida tunafanya kazi tu.”

When Ichung'wah took to the podium, he apologised to the governor over the hitch.

"Bwana gavana tunakuomba msamaha," he said.

Arati was welcomed to the stage by South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro.

In his address, Ruto praised Osoro, saying the ruling coalition did not err in having him as the majority whip at the National Assembly, noting he can deliver.
