Kindiki: State administrative offices must display service charters

Interior cabinet secretary Kithure Kindiki has issued directives that all National Government Administration (NGA) offices must have publicly displayed service charters that outline the services they provide.

Kindiki stated that the service charters should provide details on the cost of accessing services and the duration within which a citizen shall be served.

In a statement released via his x account, the CS reiterated his stance on Zero tolerance to corruption as he said the move would help achieve the same.

“The service charters will be written in English and Kiswahili, and where possible, translated into local languages," he said.

Kindiki said corruption is non-negotiable, and where a service is to be paid for, the cost of such services shall be clearly outlined and payable electronically.

The CS further warned Officers demanding bribes from citizens they would not only be liable to administrative action but prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“All National Government Administration officers must deliver services efficiently and will be subjected to performance contracts,” Kindiki stated.

The CS also commissioned Biashara Location Chief's Camp in Thika West subcounty, Kiambu County.

Biashara Location has two sublocations; Starehe and Township. It covers an area of 5.6 km square, with a total population of 30,931 as per the 2019 census.

He ascertained that the Chief’s office was constructed to good standards.

“We will be adopting it as the Model Chief’s Office to be replicated countrywide for all future Chief’s office construction projects,” Kindiki said.
