Police are investigating the macabre murder of The Nairobi Hospital's acting finance director Erick Maigo who was found dead in his house with 16 stab wounds.

Maigo, 36, was Friday morning found murdered in his house in Woodley estate, Nairobi.

His assailant, a female who had probably spent the night at the house or accessed it in the morning escaped minutes before police arrived.

Kilimani police boss Moss Ndiwa confirmed the murder, saying investigators were pursuing a suspect.

Decomposed body of woman found in Kangemi

Police are investigating the death of a 30-year-old woman whose decomposed body was found in her house in Kangemi, Nairobi.

The body of Mercy Chepchirchir was found in her house on Wednesday, days after she had gone missing.

Neighbours complained of a foul smell coming from one of the rental houses.

Body found on tree

Police are investigating the discovery of a decomposing body on a tree after a suspected suicide in a village in Mandera County.

This is the latest suicide incident to be reported in a series amid calls to address the menace linked to trauma.

Police said they are yet to identify the body of the man after the incident in the Burabor location.

The decomposing body was found hanging from the tree with a shirt tied around the neck on September 11 evening, police said.

Al Shabaab terror suspects killed

At least four alShabaab terror suspects were killed in a dusk raid on a hideout in the Harbole-Fafi area in Garissa County.

Multi-agency teams raided their hideout in an ambush and recovered Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) making materials, medicine and other assorted items.

Officials said the raid happened on September 12 evening and stopped a major planned terrorist attack.

The area has been facing insecurity-related incidents. At least six other suspects managed to escape but with injuries, officials said.

Fire tragedy claims one-year-old 

A one-and-a-half-year-old child was killed in a fire incident in Githunguri, Kiambu County.

The female minor was in their house with her elder sister aged four when the fire broke out on Monday night in Kamakwa village in Kanjai sublocation.

Police said the fire raged through the four-roomed timber-made structure killing the child as her sister ran out to safety.

Boy dies after falling into septic tank 

A 15-year-old boy died after he slipped into an uncovered septic tank in Namanga, Kajiado.

The boy and his friend aged 17 were playing at an open field in Maili Tisa trading centre when they fell into the septic tank.

Witnesses rushed to their rescue and took them to hospital where the boy died while undergoing treatment.

Police were called to the scene and declared they had opened an investigation into the incident and that they would seek an explanation from the owner of the septic tank.
