Ruto and the Delaware Senator had met last month in Kenya at the much Kenya Kwanza-Azimio talks that had started at Bomas of Kenya.

Before meeting Ruto, the Senator had met Opposition Chief Raila Odinga.

The visit by Coon was believed to have everything to do with the talks between Azimio and Kenya Kwanza.

In August last year, Coons, a close ally of US President Joe Biden, engaged shuttle diplomacy between then President-elect Ruto and Raila in an effort to unlock the stalemate over the outcome of the August 9 General Election.
