President William Ruto has continued to earn praise from the global leaders with the United States now saying Kenya is headed in the right direction.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said under the leadership of President Ruto, Kenya has established itself as a champion of regional peace and security.

Blinken noted that Kenya has also demonstrated maturity in democracy, setting a good example in Africa.

He explained that Kenya has made strides in curbing corruption and abuse of public resources.

"The steps being taken to tackle corruption in Kenya are commendable," he said during a meeting with Ruto in New York.

Blinken further lauded Kenya for being on the frontline in climate action, noting that the US was committed to strengthening investment in tackling its effects.

America, he added, will partner with Kenya in addressing the deteriorating crisis in Haiti to safeguard human rights.

Ruto on his part, thanked the US for participating in the African Climate Summit and committing USD 30 million (Sh4.2 billion) to accelerate climate-resilient food security in Africa.

The President said Kenya is keen on exploring new trade and investment opportunities in the US.

"Kenya and the United States are actively strengthening relations to advance shared interests," he added.
