Man, wife charged for beating up another man who inquired about his child

A man and his wife accused of beating up another man who allegedly inquired about the well-being of his child have been charged with assault at a Kibera court.

Justus Mmera and Juliet Ouma were jointly charged with beating up Geoffrey Otieno Okuku who questioned Juliet Ouma on how his child was doing.

The court heard that Juliet Ouma and Okuku had a child before Justus Mmera decided to marry her.

According to the charge sheet, the two committed the offence on September 19 in Kawangware area in Dagoretti within Nairobi County.

The problem began after the complainant allegedly spotted the two accused persons walking together, stopped them, and questioned the woman on the said topic.

 The two became chaotic and assaulted him.

In court, Mmera said that Juliet Ouma was his rightful wife.

“Yes the relationship that I have with her is that of a wife and a husband, he's my wife,” he told Kibera Chief Magistrate Ann Mwangi.

The prosecution objected to their release on bond and was granted a cash bail of Sh10,000 with the surety of the same amount.
