Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua says the government is keen on empowering the Cooperative movements so that more Kenyans can gain maximum benefits from their investments.

He said they are reviewing the Cooperative Societies Act to streamline the movement.

“The Cooperative movement forms a critical part of the Kenya Kwanza administration for financial reliability in the empowerment of our people,” said Ruto.

The DP spoke when he held a meeting with members of the African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations (ACCOSCA), and other stakeholders of the global Sacco movement at his Karen residence.

He further stated that they will be working with all stakeholders locally and abroad to strengthen Saccos.

Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Simon Chelugui and Principal Secretary of State Department for Cooperatives Patrick Kilemi were present.
