Harisson Kenga: Top Hustler Fund borrower receives new Tuktuk

It was a moment of joy Monday for Harrison Kenga who emerged as the leading Hustler Fund borrower as the government finally delivered a Tuktuk promised by President William Ruto.

At an event in Mombasa, Kenga was all smiles as received the keys of the brand new Piaggio machine from Cooperatives and MSMEs Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui.

“This is a dream come true. I want to thank President Ruto for introducing the Hustler Fund. God bless him,” he said.

Chelugui said Kenga’s achievement not only highlights the individual's ability to utilize the fund effectively but showcases the support and encouragement provided by the President towards entrepreneurship and small businesses

“We gave you a challenge to borrow the funds starting with Sh500 and we have all seen what that small amount can translate into…I want to encourage other Kenyans to emulate him,” he stated.

During the first anniversary of the Hustler Fund on November 30, the businessman was named as the top borrower having taken a loan of Sh714,000 so far.

Ruto was impressed with his actions noting it served as an inspiration to others who aspire to start their businesses promising to buy him the Tuk Tuk.

He disclosed that during a previous conversation with him, it became evident to him that he had been hired to operate the Tuk Tuk.

“I am very excited to meet you. He has not come here to waste time, this is a businessman. Today he is leaving this place with his tuktuk,” Ruto said he introduced him during the event at Railways club.

The businessman is said to have started with a limit of Sh800 and continued to borrow until his loan limit was increased to Sh16,000.

Ruto also stated that Kenga had saved Sh35,730.

Due to his prompt payment and consistency, he has now attained the highest limit of Sh50,000.
