Machogu to release form one placement at Lenana School

Candidates were required to choose four national schools and three extra-county schools.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu is set to release the form one placement results at Lenana School on Monday morning. 

The placement exercise was conducted for a period of two weeks after the KCPE results were announced. 

The selection exercise for the 2024 Form 1 placement started from November 27 to December 11.

Machogu has said the selection will be fair to all the 2023 KCPE candidates.

He said the ministry had developed a fair and transparent system for Form 1 placement.

"Form 1 placement will start Monday for two weeks to allow parents time to plan for admissions," the CS said.

This year, the top student scored 428 marks. Further, he said only two candidates were involved in exam malpractices.

The Ministry had noted that all candidates with 400 marks and above will be selected to join national schools.

8,523 candidates scored over 400 marks. 

Candidates were required to choose four national schools and three extra-county schools.

They were then supposed to select two county and two sub-county schools.

He said learners who scored between 300 and 399 represented 24.94 per cent of the total candidature population.

This was 352,782 learners while the number was 307,756 candidates in 2022.

Machogu said 658,278 learners scored between 200 and 299 marks.

Between 100 and 199 marks, there were 383,025 candidates while between 1 mark and 99 marks, there were 2060 candidates.

9354 candidates failed to sit KCPE 2023.

Machogu said they will get a second chance in January

Further, he said only two candidates were involved in exam malpractices.

"One had a note while the other a mobile phone," he said.

"KCPE being the last, those who failed to sit the exam were given another chance to sit a special test in January."
