Majority of Kenyan adults are married, the latest Kenya Media Research 2023 by Radio Africa Limited's Research Department shows.

The omnibus survey conducted between June 29 and July 11 2023 shows that 57 percent of Kenyan adults are married with the divorce rates being low at one percent.

The survey was conducted among 3,000 respondents aged 18 years and above across all 47 counties with a sampling error of +/-1.8 percent.

The data was collected through Computer Aided Telephone Interview (CATI) with the survey being conducted in both English and Kiswahili.

"At least two-thirds (67 per cent) of Kenyan adults are either married or dating, with those single being 22 per cent, divorce rate is low at 1 per cent," the survey shows.

According to the survey, 10 per cent of Kenyan adults are dating, four per cent are widowed, three per cent are engaged and two per cent are separated.

The researchers used a random, Multi-stage stratified method using Proportionate to Population Size (PPS) spread across all the 47 counties in Kenya.

The sample split was guided by all adults aged 18 and above proportionate to size as per the Kenya Bureau of Statistics population census of 2019.
