President William Ruto will attend a church and Thanksgiving service today at his Uasin Gishu home county.

The service will be held at AIC Sugutek church in Segero Barsombe ward in Soy constituency.

A host of local politicians and leaders led by Governor Jonathan Chelilim are expected to grace the event.

This comes a few days after he threw a bombshell on the state of judiciary, a comment which has since elicited varied opinions from Kenyans.

The head of state has since received backlash from various quarters including the opposition leaders and lawyers.

Ruto is expected to use the function to emphasize about his stand over the matter.

The crux of it was the statement he made putting on notice alleged corrupt judicial officers he claimed are working with cartels to stall government programmes.

Ruto said the cartels are working in conduits with corrupt judges and judicial officers to abuse the court process and frustrate the housing programme and reforms in universal health coverage.

"We will protect independence of the Judiciary, [but] what we will not allow is judicial impunity and tyranny,” Ruto said.

On Saturday, Chelilim inspected the venue of the meeting and urged residents to turn up in large numbers.

“Prayer serves as a powerful tool, uniting us to reflect on our blessings and express gratitude for the abundance in our lives,” he said.

He said “The event offers us a chance to recommit ourselves to God's work and foster a loving, inclusive community”.
