Affordable Housing Project (AHP) is at the heart of President Ruto’s agenda.

In the 2023-24 financial year, the government allocated Sh35.2 billion towards the housing program.

Construction of the 2,000 housing units in various parts of the country has commenced as the government makes good on its promise to deliver decent and affordable housing for all Kenyans.

The overall target is to construct 200,000 affordable housing units annually which will create between 600,000 and one million jobs each year.

"The Affordable housing programme is a path towards a better quality of life for Kenyans. The programme will provide thousands of families with an opportunity to own a home and present numerous other Kenyans with economic access during construction," Ruto said in Uasin Gishu.

On Wednesday, he commissioned the Nanyuki affordable housing project in Laikipia East constituency a day after he camped in his Uasin Gishu home county for a similar event.

In Laikipia, he also opened the modernised new KCC Nyahururu factory that is set to serve more than five counties, processing at least 150,000 litres of milk a day from the current 80,000 litres.
