In what appears to be a strategic move aimed at fostering stability in Kisii, County Commissioner Tom Anjere has been recalled.
In a press release issued Thursday by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kindiki Kithure, Anjere has been recalled to Harambee House for redeployment.
He is among the list of five moved.
Murang’a County Commissioner Patrick Muguria is set to be replaced in the position.
The transfer comes amidst the ongoing fights between Governor Simba Arati and National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro.
The frequent clashes between the two figures have in some instances led to injuries raising concerns among leaders and residents about governance in the region.
The decision to transfer the County Commissioner is seen as a step towards diffusing tensions.
Anjere recently issued a stern warning to leaders from the region against violent encounters during public gatherings.
Speaking to the press in Kisii town, Anjere said the government will not condone meetings that turn chaotic and anyone found culpable will be brought to book.
His statement came after supporters of Arati and Osoro clashed at the Nyakembene market in the Gucha South sub-county.
