Officials in Seme have planned a funds drive next weekend to strengthen their capacity to register more members for the party.

The ODM subcounty chairman Leonard Ochar stated that they must own the party and not always wait for the national officials to push the recruitment drive.

Ochar noted that on March 17, party members and followers will collect funds from their pockets to support the party recruitment exercise.

"These funds will help our officials to move deep into the villages to register new members," he said

He spoke on Sunday when the party officials met a Nairobi-based lawyer Fred Odumo, who has shown interest in the Kisumu senatorial position in 2027.

“I want to confirm here that Odumo has accepted to grace our harambee next weekend. The money collected will go towards strengthening the party’s search for new members,” he said.

Ochar further noted that as party officials from Seme, they have listened to Odumo and his aspirations and unanimously agreed to walk with him for the betterment of the ODM party.

Odumo who was making his 6th tour of the subcounties says he is delighted to learn how the party officials are organized in the recruitment drive.

“I am pleased that the officials have come out to mobilize funds to assist them in the recruitment drive, I want to confirm that I will join them in the collection,” he said.

The initiative in Seme remains the first and unique with Odumo asking them to get everyone who is not registered to join the party.

Of importance, he said, those who are receiving their national identity cards should be sensitized on the need to register with the ODM party.

“We have school leavers, young women, and men who are turning 18 years, as party officials, let us go out and meet them, sweet talk them so that they can join our party for a brighter future,” he said.

The ODM party has been on a drive to bring in more members to make it vibrant and command the highest position in terms of the total number of party members.

Also present during the meeting was Seme Women League Chairperson Consolata Kolos, who expressed unwavering support from women to Odumo.
