State to release 7 bodies of Shakahola victims for burial

Some 34 bodies, out of the 429 that were exhumed from Shakahola last year, were positively identified.

The government is today expected to release seven bodies of victims of Shakahola to their families for burial

Some 34 bodies, out of the 429 that were exhumed from Shakahola last year, were positively identified.

Today, three families will receive the bodies of their relatives who died due to starvation.

Four bodies have been released to one Malindi family.

Two will also be realised for yet another family in Kilifi, and one will be realised for a family from Western.

The families are at the Malindi Subcounty Hospital morgue waiting for the bodies.

The victims were followers of cult leader Paul Mackenzie.

Mackenzie and 95 other co-accused persons are facing several charges in Mombasa and Malindi courts for the deaths of the 429 members.
