Details surrounding Mike Tyson’s fight with Jake Paul in Arlington, Texas, at the 80,000-seater AT&T Stadium on July 20 were revealed.
Tyson, 57, will have to undergo several tests to be allowed to fight the 27-year-old nicknamed “The Problem Child.”
Paul and Tyson will be wearing 16-ounce boxing gloves instead of the traditional 10-ounce gloves used in professional fights.
Two-minute rounds will be in place instead of the usual three-minute rounds and there will be no official judges to score the fight.
The only way either Paul or Iron Mike could win the fight would be if there was a knockout on the night.
The majority of the rules, other than the glove weight, are the same.
The undercard for the bout between Paul and Tyson has not yet been discussed.
The undercard refers to the preliminary matches or bouts that occur before the main event on a card or fight card.
There are two categories of undercard matches: the midcard and the lower card. A midcard match is thought to be more important than a lower-card match. Midcard matches are scheduled closer to the main match than a lower card match.
Tela Mange, Communications Manager for the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations told USA Sports Today it is normal to secure a date and venue before proposing the fighters.
“It's pretty common for a promoter to request a date several months out but not immediately provide the proposed card,” he said.
Tyson will be 58 years old by the time he fights Paul.
Tyson is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 2005.
Nicknamed "Iron Mike"[4] and "Kid Dynamite" in his early career, and later known as "The Baddest Man on the Planet.”
Tyson is regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. He reigned as the undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990.
Out of the 58 fights, Tyson won 50- 44 by knockouts- and lost six with two no contests.
Paul has won nine of his 10 fights and lost one. Six of his wins were by knockouts.
Paul is an American YouTuber and professional boxer. He began his career posting videos on Vine in September 2013 and had amassed 5.3 million followers and two billion views before the app was discontinued.
His boxing career began in August 2018 with a white-collar boxing match against Deji Olatunji, in which he won via technical knockout.
