Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has revealed why he met with ODM county representatives earlier in the month.

Sakaja said since the UDA party clinched few elective positions in the county, he had to enlist the help of the opposing party.

The county chief stated that he needed them to help him run the county by passing his proposed bills and other requirements to ensure Nairobi's businesses were handled seamlessly.

"Because we are the minority, ilibidi niongee na wale watu pia. Kwa sababu nikitaka kupitisha budget si lazima waipitishe? Na ni wengine," Sakaja said.

"That is why we had to sit down and agree with them."

He acknowledged the help he has received from UDA MCAs, despite being the minority in the Nairobi County Assembly.

The governor wondered how he was meant to work towards a better Nairobi without involving the opposition.

"Tungepitisha aje mawaziri wetu?" he asked.

Sakaja had faced backlash for holding a meeting with ODM leaders.
