Detectives are investigating the tragic death of a man who was attacked and fatally stabbed by suspected thugs in the Kaptembwo area of Nakuru.

The incident occurred on the night of Friday, May 31, as the man and a woman were walking home.

The couple was confronted by a gang of four armed with crude weapons. The gang attempted to rob them of their valuables and cash, stabbing the man in the abdomen before fleeing to an unknown destination.

The woman survived the attempted robbery and reported the attack to the police.

The victim was rushed to the local hospital where he succumbed to the injuries, police said.

Nakuru police boss Samuel Ndanyi said a team of detectives is investigating the murder.

He said they suspect the victim was attacked after he resisted the robbery.

Locals have protested increased cases of armed crime and asked for enhanced operations to address the same.

Elsewhere, police are investigating the murder of a 33-year-old man whose body was found in his house in Kikuyu Town, Kiambu County.

Relatives found James Chege lying in a pool of blood on his sofaset on Friday, May 31 after he had sustained the fatal injuries.

The body had visible injuries on the head, left ear, and right hand. Blood was oozing from his mouth when police arrived at the scene.

He was rushed to a local hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Preliminary investigations revealed that on May 29, he was involved in a fight with a woman in the Muthiga area.

It is not clear what prompted the fight and the said assailant is yet to be arrested.

Police moved the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
