Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has recovered his X account, formerly Twitter.

Kuria lost the account on April 14. He indicated that he was a victim of hackers.

“I'm over the moon. I have recovered my X account,” he announced on Friday.

The CS thanked the Communications Authority led by Director General David Mugonyi for helping in the recovery of the account.

Accounts may become compromised if one entrusts their username and password to a malicious third-party application or website.

Loss of accounts can also occur due to weak passwords, if viruses or malware invade one’s device and collects passwords, or if one is on a compromised network.

However, unexpected updates don't always mean one’s account has been compromised.

Occasionally, third-party applications can have a bug that causes unexpected behaviour.

X advises that if you see strange behaviour, change your password and/or revoke connections when prompted to log into suspicious sites.

Doing this will ensure the malicious application will no longer have access to your account.
