Dagoretti's Ng'ando ward welcomes first public primary school

Dagoretti South constituency in Nairobi has welcomed Lenana School Primary, the first public primary school in Ngando ward.

Lenana School Primary was conceived following a tragic incident at a private school in the ward in 2019.

On September 23, 2019, residents of Ng'ando ward encountered a tragedy that robbed the community of eight children.

A classroom at Precious Talent School collapsed killing eight pupils and causing injuries to 64 others.

Victims of the tragedy were learners in Stad 1 to 3 who fell from first floor to the ground, with some being hit by blocks and falling debris.

Responding to the urgent need for safe and accessible educational facilities, area MP John Kiarie fast-tracked the establishment of the new school, which now stands as a beacon of hope for many families in the area.

Lenana School Primary is the sixth school to open its doors to learners in Dagoretti South this year alone.

Through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), MP Kiarie has ensured the construction of a new school in every ward within the constituency.

The newly established schools include Kagira Mixed Secondary School, Mūkarara Mixed Secondary School, Rīruta Satellite Mixed Secondary School, Ndurarūa Mixed Secondary School and Mūtūinī Girls’ School.

"Education is the foundation of any thriving community. By investing in our schools, we are investing in our future," Kiarie emphasised.

As Lenana School Primary opens its doors, the students of Ng'ando ward embark on a journey filled with promise and opportunity.

Dagoretti South constituency has a comprehensive school feeding programme where over 22,000 learners in public schools receive hot lunches.
