Kakamega youth join protests against Finance Bill, 2024

Hundreds of youth poured into the streets in Kakamega town to express their dissatisfaction with the Finance Bill, 2024.

The whistle and placard-carrying protestors marched through Kakamega streets singing anti-Finance Bill and anti-government chants.

The protests started at 10 am through Kenyatta Avenue and went through Canon Awori Street and Sudi Road as the crowd grew bigger.

They marched in different groups, an indication they were mobilising from different locations.

There was no heavy police presence that has characterised street protests in the past but police vehicles followed them from a distance.

Some business people closed their shops temporarily for fear that violence might break out before reopening.
