Kenya-born Holywood Actor Lupita Nyong'o has condemned the use of excessive force against protesters who took to the streets to demonstrate against the Finance Bill, 2024.

In a message on Tuesday regarding the protests, Lupita expressed sadness over deaths reported during the protests that saw several people shot.

"I am extremely saddened that lives have been lost in the process and my thoughts are with the victims' families," she said in a post on her Instagram Page.

Lupita called on the government to listen to the cries of Kenyans saying they have a right to express themselves on governance issues.

"May the government of Kenya aim to peacefully unify the nation by hearing and addressing the concerns about bad governance that are rightfully being raised," Lupita said.

She at the same time lauded the Kenyan people for uniting to champion their rights.

"I salute the Kenyan youth and I'm grateful to them for coming together in an extraordinary way to stand up against the problematic finance bill 2024, " Nyong'o said.

Tuesday's protests turned chaotic after a group of youths stormed Parliament Buildings.

The group was met with gunshots fired at them by security officers.

The incident led to the death of some with others left with gunshot injuries.
