The families of two Kenyans who lost their lives in anti-Finance Bill protests last week will each pocket Sh1 million out of Sh3 million raised by Kenyans.

The two succumbed due to injuries sustained during the anti-Finance Bill protests.

Honey Farsafi also known as Hanifa, said the monies were sent to the two families on Thursday, specifically their mothers.

The remaining Sh1m, Hanifa said, will be given to an injured protester.

"The remaining will be sent to the family of Ian, who was shot three times in the back and won’t be able to walk again," Hanifa said in a statement on X that was accompanied by screenshots of the transactions.

"This is minus the hospital bills. He will receive it tomorrow since the bank limit can’t allow us today."

Kenyans raised  Sh3,052,989 to support the two families following Evans and Rex's deaths.

According to the M-Change portal, 7,876 people supported the initiative.

The initiative targeted to raise Sh2 million for the two families but the target was surpassed by Sh 1.05m.

A screenshot shared by Hanifa on X showed that of the amount contributed, Sh127,494 was charged as a platform fee.

The amount withdrawn was Sh2,872, 352.
