Businesses are not able to operate. A lot of them were looted in the previous demonstrations last week and yesterday.

So, there is very little business going on, which means heavy losses to mainly retails and shops.

But basically, all businesses are affected because people have to go home early.

We couldn't work the whole day and some did not open totally. so, businesses are adversely affected.

People have decided that when there are demonstrations, they choose not to open. Even their staff are scared of coming to work. some come and work for a few hours and then business has to close.

There is heavy disruption.

As FKE we have not quantified the losses but we saw the government releasing some figures.

But if you look at the losses in terms of the downtime and the fact that you are losing half the day or the whole day, we expect the losses to be quite heavy.

However, we do not have ready figures.

We sent a message last week, pleading with the government to do its best to restore normalcy and address the issues that have been raised.

I think it is quite clear what Kenyans are saying and the government should expedite the process of addressing those issues so that we can go back to normalcy as a nation.

There is property damage, there is loss of business and loss of man hours.

But there is also the suffering and pain of Kenyans, the injuries sustained, and the deaths. The is generally the mood of pain and suffering in the country, and businesses is also feeling it.

The current situation is creating an environment of uncertainty and anxiety among employers, employees and Kenyans as a whole and is shaking the very fabric of our nation

But at the end of the day what we need is peace so that people can go their own businesses and lead their lives without any fear.

Our plea to the government is because the government is responsible for maintaining law and order, but also addressing the needs of the population to do that speedily.
