President William Ruto has affirmed that action will be taken against those implicated in the alleged Finland scandal.
Speaking in an X Space on Friday, Ruto said he is confident that the law will deal with those involved in the saga.
"I wish I could go to court and tell them to jail these people but we have the rule of law. I am confident that the law will deal with them," Ruto said.
The programme, administered by the Uasin Gishu County government, was supposed to help over 200 students study at universities in Finland and Canada.
However, it was discovered that Sh 1.1 billion had allegedly been misappropriated.
The Uasin Gishu Overseas Education Trust Fund account is said to have been opened in May 2021 with three officials named as signatories.
In December last year, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) approved the inquiry file forwarded by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
In May, parents and students said they would resume street protests to demand a refund of their money.
More than 350 affected parents met in Eldoret and said they had been abandoned even after being asked to be patient so that they could be refunded.
