CS Ababu hosts Police FC and Police Bullets, lauds them for recent success

PS Omollo also congratulated the players attributing their success to professionalism and dedication

Managers of police football clubs have been praised for good management of the sport.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba said both Police FC and Kenya Police Bullets were run well under an “impressive team management framework”.

Speaking at a breakfast meeting he hosted in honour of the police footballers at Ole Sereni Hotel, Nairobi, on Wednesday, Namwamba attributed the recent successes of Police FC and Police Bullets to good management of the sport and dedication of the players.

The CS praised the two police clubs for winning top-flight league titles this year and for their successful show in the regional stage.

The Police FC won this year’s FKF Premier League and the Bullets clinched the women’s title in their top-flight debut.

The Police FC also won the FKF Mozzart BetCup by defeating KCB FC last month.

 “You have an impressive team management framework. I see in you order, discipline, efficiency, accountability and transparency,” the CS said.

Namwamba thanked Internal Security and National Administration Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo who is also the patron of the two police clubs for providing leadership and support to the teams.

He said Dr Omollo’s team had overseen adept talent spotting, nurturing and improvement which has raised the quality of football in the police service and the country.

The Cabinet Secretary said the improvement of sports standards in the country was a key priority for President Ruto's administration.

Dr Omollo said the two police clubs needed Sh43 million to support their preparation for the upcoming Council for East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) and Confederation of African Football (CAF) competitions.

“The Police FC needs Sh19 million and the Police Bullets Sh 24 million for the preparations,” he said.

The PS said the two teams will also play friendly games as part of the pre-season preparations.

Dr Omollo noted that the men’s team will play Uganda’s Vipers FC as part of its pre-season activities.

The PS congratulated the players for winning the recent titles which he attributed to professionalism and dedication.

He said he was confident that football standards in the country were improving.

The PS asked Hon Namwamba to secure an appointment for the players with President Ruto so they could discuss issues about the sport and showcase their recent success in the game.
