The Boda Boda Safety Association of Kenya has warned anti-government protesters across the country from stealing and destroying motorcycles or injuring the owners during protests.

Chairperson Kevin Mubadi said the association is ready to deal with any kind of hooliganism aimed at the destruction of their property.

"We remain committed to the rule of law and order but will be forced to protect our economic activities and assets where need be across the country," he said.

"This should therefore sound as a warning to the protesters who aim to destroy or steal our motorbikes and injure our members, we shall face you head-on."

The association condemned the intrusion of peaceful protests by goons to cause harm and destroy property.

This follows a recent incident in Mlolongo where goons posing as protesters burned down four motorcycles belonging to members of the association.

The riders who operate in the Mlolongo and Syokimau areas within the Athi River subcounty said they were attacked by goons who had infiltrated the Gen Z demonstrations.

The chairperson and boda boda riders have since demanded that police arrest those who torched down the motorcycles.

Mlolongo Syokimau Bodaboda Association chairman Alex Mutuku said their colleagues were at work when they were attacked and their motorbikes burnt.

The operators poured into the Nairobi – Mombasa Highway in their hundreds protesting against the incident.

They barricaded the Nairobi – Mombasa lane at Mlolongo town for minutes completely interrupting the free flow of traffic on the highway.
